Maersk Logistics Australia wins unique award
31 July 2008
On the 31st July, 2008, Maersk Logistics Australia won the inaugural Queensland Transport & Logistics Industry Futures Award. This was presented by the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia, in conjunction with the Australian Logistics Council, APICS, CIPSA and the Queensland Transport Industry Capability Unit at a gala dinner attended by 400 of its members.
The award was presented to the company, institution or organisation with the best proven record in providing people with an entry to, and pathway in, the Transport, Supply Chain & Logistics industries. This includes, but is not limited to, education or training (formal or in-house), implementing flexible work practices, workforce development, and support in career progression.
Our nomination for the award took into consideration 4 key areas:
- Ensuring all staff have the required skills to perform their current and next roles.
- That we have a process in place to develop our organisational intellectual property, capture it and utilise it effectively.
- That we add to the level of knowledge in our industry, and provide support to organisations that are trying to attract people to our industry.
- Ensuring the company provides a positive, safe and supportive work environment.
Initiatives that lead to this award involved:
During 2007 / 2008, Maersk Logistics Australia made significant contribution in changes to the perception of Transport & Logistics by developing innovative recruitment techniques and improved career paths to meet the skills needs of our industry.
